How much Coffee

How much coffee do you think the average EASAian drinks per day? we know some countries are hard core and never stop drinking the stuff whilst others just have it at breakfast, so what is the point between these extremes?

What’s that, didn’t get a place at easa010?

Didn’t get in to easa010 yet?

Hey hang on, ‘yet’?

That’s right, it’s not over yet, there is one more way to attend – DOCU+MATION.

easaUK2010 is pleased to announce the second competition workshop of easa010, DOCU+MATION.

An important part of EASA is the documentation of the event. This year EASA is running a competition for places in a dedicated documentation and information gathering workshop:
DOCU+MATION.

DOCU+MATION will cover every aspect of easa010 in the mediums of film, photography and whatever else the participants can conceive. Remember that the assembly will have 400+ people involved, so think about means of data collection also.

The workshop is looking for 8 participants and 2 tutors. To apply for DOCU+MATION return the completed application form www.box.net to competition@easauk.net along with examples of work in your chosen medium.

Unlike all other easa010 workshops participants will be applying for this workshop ONLY, there is no choice to change workshops once at easa010.

Documentation plus Information equals DOCU+MATION

Flickr

easa010 has a new flickr page:

www.flickr.com

At the moment it is being used to store images which may be useful for our competition (easauk.net, go to competitions tab)

However in the run up and during the event we will be adding loads more pictures.

Can we also ask you to use the tag ‘easa010’ when uploading your pictures. Don’t forget them to add them to the ‘official’ EASA group too!

Thanks,

Alex

building buttler

hello EASA friends,

I would like to draw your attention to the new website www.buildingbutler.com that serves high resolution building images to those who are in need for reference images or details of facades for their own project. There are over 20.000 images but more pictures are on their way!

There are many search options and you can save collections etc etc. The site has just been launched, but is open for improvement, so please leave your feedback and ideas here, or even better: via the site itself.

The site is a project of Geert-Jan Kuip, (Dutch NC in 2001-2002). It is a paysite, and one can buy subscriptions for a day, a month or a year. I think the subscriptions are affordable but I am trying to arrange a discount code for EASA members and dino’s, but even without this I think it is worth your attention.

So have a look and enjoy!

Jelk (dutch NC 2001-2005)

EASA010: Wo!manchester Workshop

hey everyone!

Wo!manchester Workshop is already busy working on how it can be done this summer in the first 2 weeks of august and for this-we need your help. We want to open a discussion here and exchange input so we can go wo!hou! and it is very important to understand wo!manchester as a humanistic research, rather than a feministic one. >>>This is for all of us.

we are questioning the identity of both genders and want to do some serious research. It be great, if we get input from all over europe even from now on-so we can catch the zeitgeist! As u might know Manchester has been up front in european history, when gender issues began to change our lifes. That is why we want to take that more than 100 year old power, that has been there and go even further and continue the suffragettes work. Today we are not fighting for women voting anymore, but what is the story today-are we still kind of backwards? What are the issues? can we solve that-and how?

How bout some inspirational questions to answer:
1. Do u think women in architecture are equal? Why? and Why not?
2. What if we have family? Do we need different structures? Are men equal when it comes to family? Why not?
3. Do we have the need to talk about gender issues in EASA? 1. during an event? 2. during the year and in general? 3. interventions, thoughts?
4. What makes a city more women-(family)-friendly? Interventions? (example:helsinki) Do u have other examples?
5. Is your architecture school doing something for equality? Like, how many students doing their doctors are female? How many will continue working or teaching? Does your school have childcare places? Are they sensible about gender friendly-language?
6…you go ahead…<3

BLOG: womanchester.wordpress.com: On this blog, we want to keep you informed and we will post interesting stuff about theater, wo&men and everything that can help wo!manchester to become a successfull output of EASA010.

We are very open for any input and u can also write us if u prefer to. as better we know what u want and like, as more we can make u happy with our workshop.

We are thanking u in anticipation:

yvonne and olivera
